Hypothetically if someone found one of these XE engines complete what are they worth?

The problem is "what is it"? Experimental engines built at Ford were given RX numbers ( RX386 was one type of Boss 429 build) so the list of parts used was documented. That was noted by a sticker on the valve cover. Test or prototype engines didn't always work according to plan . Some of these engines went into storage , others were "scrapped out". Value depends on potential and rarity unless you are simply looking for wall art or a display engine. Some SK/XE parts are expensive and others worthless. It's important to remember that "at one point" even a 6 cylinder production engine was built from XE parts before the production casting numbers were assigned. I've seen MANY common parts with experimental numbers on them for that exact reason.

Thanks, I'm not talking about anything super fancy like a Boss or Cammer motor. Lets say a 429CJ complete stored since the 70s. Has anyone ever seen one of these motors sell? I would assume they are rare and worth a little, but not Boss money.
