I don't know about the gear yet.I gota change the oil and give it a looking over.jbozzelle wrote:If you don't want to cut the header panel to update the lights you can just swap the whole header panel from the newer truck and also swap bumpers too to get the grill to clear. Most everything bolts on from year to year on those trucks.
Get some 4" exhaust from the turbo back, cold air intake (if you can stand the noise it'll make) and a tuner. That'll wake it up a good bit. What gear is in it? Also, you may want to just bite the bullet now and put some bigger injectors in it with a matched chip.
I regret trading my 2001 7.3 F250 in when I got my F150. Should've kept it just to tow the race car around with. Live and learn...

Pulling that big trailer the first upgrade I would do is change those gears to at least 4.10. I got lucky, mine came with them.

I happen to have a 4.10 r&p here for a Dana 80 diff too. Going cheap LOL

You'll like that gear change. The engine will still ride in the sweet spot RPM wise hooked up in overdrive...
Also, if the trans has never been upgraded or rebuilt start setting aside that money now. Mine made it to 298,000 miles before it twisted the input shaft. The trans still looked good inside but it got all the upgrades anyway.

trans fluid is next on my list of things to do.I may take it to the guys I know who work on these things all the time and get it looked over.jbozzelle wrote:You'll like that gear change. The engine will still ride in the sweet spot RPM wise hooked up in overdrive...
