Head on valve spring compressor
Anyone have a recommendation for a good compressor to use with the heads on? I would love to have a Buxton, but can't justify the expense at this time.

LSM. I have both but the Buxton is hard to beat.

x2 ! I have used LSM with good results. I found most tools for shaft setups were different to mine.maverick wrote:I made mine.

Thanks for the offer Mike, but it's a tool I should have added to my collection a long time ago.

Stud mounted, Bolt down rockers and Shaft type rockers usually will require a different valve spring removing tool.
Re: Head on valve spring compressor
that's where I ran into trouble, with shafts anyway. Different size and width of bolt pattern on them so one needs to be sure of what they have. Stud type are mostly universal.rmcomprandy wrote:Stud mounted, Bolt down rockers and Shaft type rockers usually will require a different valve spring removing tool.

Yeah, that Buxton onhead spring compressor takes all the work out of 400 lbs closed pressure springs.
Makes the job almost fun!

It looks like an awesome piece, but dang, you would have to use it quite often to justify the cost.
Re: Head on valve spring compressor
I thought LSM tools were expensive, but they're really proud of that Buxton part.
