Might be the wrong forum, so please move if needed.

Looking at a 4 Winns Liberator with a 6-71 blown 460 and it has been converted to a Volvo outdrive. (not sure which model Volvo). Driveline-wise, what should I worry about? I've read rumblings about exhaust and coupler availability. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TIA
Jim

I'm not familiar with the Volvo units. Is the Volvo unit you mention similar to the later Merc Bravo drives? If the Volvo unit is at that level I think you'll be OK. Two things that are tough on outdrives, hard acceleration and heat. Don't be to quick getting that sled up on plane and add a cooling line to spray water at the top gear box, and change the lubricant before each season! That's a heavy boat you have there at any length, so I'm sure you don't intend to drag race it, just take it easy leaving the dock!

Dave.

The Volvo stuff should be comarable to the Bravo 1 at least. It as a swap to replace OMC gear. Can you still get engine couplers and exhaust parts? Going to test boat in water befor purchase when weather gets better, but going to hear run in the next month or so for deposit. Owner has water hookup to facilitate. What to look for with 6-71's and engine habits? My first exposure to blown 385's and owner acquired boat as part of an estate.

Thanks!

Still looking for word on the engine couplers and what to look for on 6-71 blown 460's.. (appear to be stock marine 460's with blowers)

thanks,
Jim
