Re: 641" C-head, 1170 hp
My rods are light for sure. I don't like the quality of the Groden rods and only have them because Mark McKeown sent them to me. They where not in Groden packaging, so they were probably old stuff he had laying around he wanted to get rid of. I am thinking about building my own rods when I find out exactly what material to use and if I can get it. Otherwise, I'll probably switch to GRP.

I am still hoping to bring it, although it will probably just sit there. I hope it will move under it's own power, though. I will have an air-conditioned trailer and a bunch of chairs for everybody to sit and talk hot-rod!

Re: 641" C-head, 1170 hp
Just got in. We are having some problems with the coupler plate and the pilot bearing. The dyno guy is going to take it off tomorrow and get it resolved.

David, what's it all going to weigh? Did rasbury give u any idea? Motor looks sweet! If u start building rods let me know... or call me.
Re: 641" C-head, 1170 hp
Still haven't got this deal started yet. Maybe today it will happen. Don't know a weight yet Jerry. Probably in the 2400-2600 lb range with driver.

Re: 641" C-head, 1170 hp
Latest update is not a good one. The cam sensor deal is giving trouble and the computer will not sync up. The engineers for the MFI system are working on it today. This is a brand-new EFI system and they are still dealing with a few bugs here and there. This is a new problem they have never seen, so they are checking over very closely. We also had a fuel pump leak and that turned out to be the seal in the Enderle pump being in the wrong place. I chose to stay out of their way today and let the smart people iron out the problems. They are going to call when they get it running.

I wish you the best of luck David. I know what a setback these things are, but it will be well worth it in the end when it all comes together.

Re: 641" C-head, 1170 hp
Okay, engine is running great now. Numbers are coming up with every hit. We are still working on the fuel curve and will try timing tomorrow.
1st pull, 5k test, 700 hp @ 4500, 4.2 a/f ratio.
2nd, 1088@6200, 973 tq @5500, (this was really the 1st full hit)
3rd, leaned out the top some, 1105@6400 and 983@5500
4th, leaned out the top some more, 1130@6500 and 981@5400
5th, leaned out top some more, 1134@6600 and 982@5400
Notes:
This is on plain industrial meth, $156 drum.
No top lube
Drysump isn't pulling any vacuum
Timing is at 30*
idles smooth all the way down to 700.
Re-adjusted idle to 1150.
All pulls 4500-7500
A/F ratio was 4.7 on the last pull @6600 peak hp
Valve lash @.026
No alky in oil at all.
Head temp 120 at start of pull, 150 at the end.
Will have more info tomorrow.
