NOS cam questions

Post  Larry T on November 21st 2011, 9:37 pm

while i have motor out to fix the oil pan leak i may want to go with a different cam for moor nos.i have been told as the motor sets now with a different cam that has moor duration on the exaust the car should go 5.20's fairly easy.im not a cam guy so i dont know if this true or not.the word is moor duration will not hold as mutch heat in the motor and will help elemonate top ring land failure with the bigger nos setup.what i do know is if the nos setup is too rich on the fuel and it gets under the ring lands it will cause a failure, this happned in my buddys small block.

the current cam i am useing now:

pt# 34-000-9

lift .787in .769ex

duration @.050 280in 292ex

lobe seperation 112

The answer is....do you a cam that is a slug w/o spray and how much spray are you using?

i am aware that the cams are or seem to be a slug all motor but when the nos is turned loose those mothers get er done!

no gas ports and no coating.their was a paper that came with the rings but i cant remember the formula,im thinking .025/.028 not sure.

hell i dont know if i should change the cam or not maybe im over thinking things.the motor likes the 200 just fine and i havent hurt anything so far so maybe a 300-350 max wont be a bad thing. What a Face
