When is it time to go with a roller cam bearing? The bearings failed in one of our mud race engines (548 BBF)after about 6 races. Were running .760 net lift with 250-275 seat & 700 open on the springs with over .100 before coil bind. They are a king brand cam bearing. Maybe just not a good enough bearing? The rear bearing looked brand new the front was showing bad wear and the middle three were in the oil pan. We run three other BBF with similar setups with actually bigger cams going on three seasons now with out any issues.

I've used the King rod and main bearings but not their cams bearings . The Durabond performance cam bearings have done so well Ive never used anything but them ...I've not seen any issues with the 800# open springs we normally use . Did the cam feel good and free at the install ?

Lem, Do you think the xtra wide Cam bearings that are on the market are that helpful. I have always used the perf. Durabond w/o any problems also.

Wider is better but the extra clearance they have is what i like the most .
