New best on motor -- thanks Charlie Evans
At the track this weekend testing today and tomorrow. Right off the trailer I turned a 9.231 @ 149.60. Previous best in my sig.
60 ft sucked but my mph from the 1/8th to the 1/4 went from 119.04 to 149.60, a difference of 30.56 mph vs what i used to run motor (116 to 143). So i picked up 3 mph to the 1/8th and 6 mph to the 1/4.
Same track, and the air was actually better last time vs today. If i can sort out the 60', this thing could go 9.00s on motor only.
Nitrous passes tomorrow.
VIDEO ADDED, see below. 9.168 ended up being the best ET of the day.

Crap-- i thanked Charlie but didnt say what for. Charlie ported my stock p51 heads and he put in some 2.3 titanium intake vavles.
Re: New best on motor -- thanks Charlie Evans
Ok, made a couple more passes. Best was 9.207 @ 149.95 mph. They are going to make me put on a chute!! All motor of course. Didn't have to even visit the HERO part store for anything. Good day today.
Re: New best on motor -- thanks Charlie Evans
You get the 60' down and the mph says 8.90's. Good job.

Thanks very much Paul. Now I can breathe a sigh of relief. In your last post you said 9.207 @ 149.95 mph, and in your signature block you said a 9.417 @ 142.96 mph was your previous best. In the quarter mile that's 2 tenths and 7 mph. IMO that's very good and now then you can send more money No, I'm just kidding. I do think in your case the titanium valves are a good investment and also the porting, and I believe you'll be pleased. Having to add a parachute is a good problem to have.

Should have been about a 5.78 - 5.80. But if his 60' is off, it will be slower than that and he'll make it up down track. 60' for a 5.78 - 5.80 should be right around a 1.27 e.t.

God, I wish. But with a glide with a 1.80 first gear and a tight nitrous converter, I don't know. But I DO KNOW the car should be doing better in the first 60'. Here are my best two slips and a short 3 minute vid with my best 3 passes, from two different angles. On the first two passes, my competition was turning mid 10s, just for reference. They get small pretty quick with the rear facing camera

I'm kinda in the same boat. 60' suffers.
Have been a 5.78, with a 130'ish 60', but it makes it all in the second half.
Converter is tight, but gonna leave it alone till I spray to see if it likes it.

Guys,
There ain't no such thing as a "Happy Convertor",,,,,that is happy withOUT nitrous and also happy with nitrous.
For this very reason, Todd and Gail Lawyer own two convertors for Kristina's car. An 8 incher for when we're running motor only and a 9 incher for use with nitrous. Of course it's a whole lot easier to change convertors in a rear engined dragster than a door car, but Todd is switching back and forth quite often.
Paul, the 60' times I was mentioning, are for a looser convertor without a power adder. Since you have a nitrous convertor in the car, I can understand that it is not going to 60' very good without the nitrous.

Re: New best on motor -- thanks Charlie Evans
Paul,
I went to the Wallace Calculators site and ran some numbers, and they are interesting. I used your stated weight of 3420 lbs. in all calculations.
Using E.T. and weight;
With your old best of 9.417, your engine was making 809.42 HP.
Using your current best of 9.168, your engine is making 877.18 HP.
For a e.t. difference of .249 and 67.76 HP
Using MPH and weight;
With your old best of 142.96, your engine was making 821.27 HP.
Using your current best of 149.65, your engine is making 942.05 HP.
For a mph difference of 6.69 and 120.78 HP
So now comes the question of what to believe? Personally I think gaining 121 HP is a bit unreal, whereas gaining 68 HP is probably much closer to the truth. The best answer is probably somewhere in between the two, and the Evans Calculator sitting on top of my shoulders thinks gaining 80 HP from the porting and titanium valves is a very realistic number.
Meanwhile, keep working to get those 60' times down.
