Whats mind boggling is how fast this cell went up, produced a tornado, and the tornado strengthened as fast as it did.

The southern storms produced tornadoes but not as fast of of this caliber. I think there might have been an outflow boundary up there from the previous days convection that aided in its genesis.

Yeah, they are saying it went from nothing to this EF4 in 45 minutes?

The thing that I find scary is the unpredictability, and then the short warning time, vs a hurricane where you sometimes have days of advance notice.

the average is 13 mins to alert folks of the warnings ....this particular cell/tornado they had 16 mins

Honestly this was a freak storm, All the bad stuff shoulda been where we where.

given the speed this thing spun up and got mean the people had every second that was possible to have.

seeing the amount of homes affected the death toll would have been a lot higher if it had been anyplace else Imo, people around these parts pay attention when the news channels preach the seriousness of these events days in advance.

I saw on TV that I think it was the National Weather service has a free app for smart phones that alerts you on your cell phone when one is near. Might be a good idea to have this on everyone's smart phone.
