Re: New cylinder heads
They seemed to have a certain amount of heft to them. Heck Freeloader was too chicken to even try.

Re: New cylinder heads
Under $2500 for a machined set, depending on which port configuration. Mike flowed that head with the A style intake port and it was close to 400cfm with no porting and just a standard 45* valve. Some bowl work, and a competition 3 angle valve job will improve those numbers substantially. Thanks for posting the pics Alan.

Re: New cylinder heads
He told Branden and I $2100 with seats and bronze guides inserted. I don't profess to be a head porter but from what little I know, these heads have huge potential. I'd say close to 500cfm.

It is illegal to enter the PRI show with a camera unless given special permission; whoever signed the form to get a ticket for entry is responsible. Everybody has a cell phone, though.
This rule is to protect venders from being copied and they have grounds to sue if they desire when a photo of their product comes out of that show.
This isn't enforced very often but, it CAN be.

Re: New cylinder heads
Well Mike was standing right there talking to me when I took those pictures and he did not not object. He even moved out of the way so I could get good pics. I even mentioned that I would spread the word on a couple forums because the puller's would be all over these heads.
Re: New cylinder heads
As Mike has told me a few times, he is not an "internet kind of guy".. He asks his dealers to spread the word on the forums.
So that's what we do.. Me, Rob and guys like Alan.. we are spreading the word..

Re: New cylinder heads
Mike said $2300 for the A intake/ BBC exhaust, and $2100 for the CJ intake/BBF exhaust. Both configurations have a standard valve layout. He is also going to do a few sets with CJ intake/ BBC exhaust, similar to the old Blue Thunder B head. All I know is that there will be a lot of pullers and mud drag guys who finally have a set of heads that fit their needs.HorsinAround wrote:He told Branden and I $2100 with seats and bronze guides inserted. Those pullin' guys are gonna be pullin' something when they see these pics. ....They look pretty hefty too, some blue paint and your going to fool a lot of people unless they know what they are looking at.

Very Sorry Keith, next year I'll do better I promise.. I was doing good to get steady shots of the heads because my heart was still racing from the activity at the booth I was at just before we came to yours..... Travis was having trouble operating the camera on my iphone, so I got to hang on a little longer than usual..

hopefully these heads will not only fill the void now that the ex514 heads aren't being produced but also go beyond.
Re: New cylinder heads
Best I remember the ex-514's were around 100 pounds each so if these are that or less that's good. Having any aftermarket iron head will help a lot of guys trying to compete in the all iron classes.

Re: New cylinder heads
Todd, these heads are well under 100#. They are similar in weight to a stock head.

Re: New cylinder heads
If that's the case that is another advantage because bbc heads are very heavy also. Only problem I am seeing with them is they are coming out about three years to late I no longer need them.

I told my wife that, and she mentioned the "D" word if I built another pulling truck....
Re: New cylinder heads
If the weight aint too big a deal in a build I'd take iron over aluminum. They tend to stay put better.

design
When I originally did the model 3 years ago Mike provided me with an aluminum semi finished version of the Compresco head. It was a lot easier to work with than iron that's for sure. I've had my fair share of grinding 460 iron LOL.
The EX514 and BT Iron CJ are cast off aluminum tooling which allows for thicker cross sections like the deck and other places. That's why they end up being so heavy in iron.
When I raised the valve cover rail 1.25" and desiged 4 individual ports it got heavier for sure LOL. I wanted to be able to use an A-460 intake on the raised port.
The concept I came up with was a sort of plug and play port selection. So when you select a low port the roof will be pretty thick. Now you could also do a raised CJ port as well. I tried to build as much flexability as possible into the design. Sometimes when you ask something to do too many things it doesn't want to. I had a girlfriend like that once. I think this head will do pretty well though.
This head will also have an indistrial application for alternative fuels.
I really wanted to get out to the PRI but I've been a little under the weather.

schmitty wrote:Saw the new cast iron Eliminator heads at PRI. I will post a few pics when I get home. Mike Bowery said that he can make this head with either the "A" style, or CJ style intake port, and either the chevy or Ford style exhaust. He had a machined head there with the A port and chevy exhaust, that was pretty impressive. These heads all have stock valve geometry, so if you have a good set of pistons already, you will be able to upgrade without having to change them. He said that aluminum versions will be out in the near future also. Another product that is now available from them is a block that can be decked down as low as 9.5".
Would be cool to see a block with gm bell pattern and starter mounting
