Re: Pro Stock gonna change soon
Another thing to think about with the switch back to OEM bodies in P/S is it could also create some big slick/big wheel tub packaging problems on some bodies out there. A number of the slicked-up P/S legal aftermarket composit bodies do fudge the rear roof line angle & placement, rear fender to roof line transition, and rear fender wheel opening C/L placement around a bunch to make room for the slick/wheel tub package.
Going back to OEM bodies might result in some of them having to have a lot more rear to front rake angle (sitting ass-up like a lot of P/S did back in the 70's - 80's) to make room to get the slicks up under there. Cars like the Ford ZX2 Pro Stocks from a few years ago are a perfect example of them having to fudge the back of the aftermarket bodies around a bunch from OEM to make room for the slicks/wheel tubs.

Excellent observation..... But IMO that just something they will have to work out.... Maybe a tire rule.... 31x14 max?

Changing P/S to a small tired class would probably mean having to let them start using some kind of traction control devices/boxes. I would hate to see that happen in P/S.

They didn't have traction control in the 60's on those recapped 6.50 16 tires back then.
Just make do as good as they can.............. lol deal with it.

Hmm. Can't handle 1,300HP, get smacked around by a 900HP ride that cost less to build, and more people racing. Works for me.

NHRA will likely not get it right, most of the drag racers my age are living their childhood dreams with either streetable P/S type cars of their day or as fast a the P/S cars of their day, NHRA is trying to find the sweet spot again but there is no way the will appease everyone, the days of the win on Sunday and sell on Monday may be over, or maybe not. If NHRA/IHRA want to go grass roots racing they need to get over the OMotors buy to succeed programs, and recreate the class for the future generations of racers in an UNBIASED FASHION, the resurgence of the muscle car is more intense now than ever. I think the rulebook is going to look like the NASCAR rulebook, with weight breaks, inch limits, supercharger/turbo limits, tire sizes etc...Just for fun they should require a stock axle without electronic power controls

In the early 2000's the drivers (some) wanted EFI, BUT NHRA said no,why? because they couldn't police it. same thing they said before. Same reason the fuel cell is now in the front, easy to police.
switching to efi DILLGASDAVE will give them traction control , or at least some of them.
switching nascar to efi made the teams spend 3x the $$$$ ,its not going to same a dime
