Picked up a new Timing chain cover and noticed that it has the seal that installs from the front instead of the back like my old cover. Is one better then the other?

Not sure if one or the other is better than the other but the one you put the seal in from the outside is alot easier if you want a seal start leaking

Some early covers won't accept the seal from the outside is all.

Thanks, just checking as I thought I saw a comment on Ford Trucks about the newer style more prone to leaking.

Well I saw something to that effect in a search Saturday but can’t find it today. That is why I questioned it. I have both style covers so I can go either way.

A lot of unknowing people put the new type seal with the metal collar in the older cover from the rear so it is backwards ... that will leak for sure.
