Small generator.
Thinking about a Honda EU2000i or the Yamaha equivalent. To take to the races and keep on the trailer. Thinking maybe a few lights and maybe an impact wrench. My main question is about using the generator, with the optional wire, as the battery charger. Anyone do that? Is the amperage high enough to charge the battery between runs?

Re: Small generator.
We have the Yamaha generator in our trailer. It is a nice unit and has surge protection and the charger option for the battery. I think that charger is intended for a 12 volt system in the trailer, not a race car. We just use our "rusty-trusty" Sears battery charger for the race car

I don't know much about the one you are talking about, but I have one of the coleman's 1800, it runs my whole trailer lights, charger, and air compressor, radio, plus charger for my golf cart, been doing it for about 12 years.

For the 12 volt battery, for the winch, and 12 volt lights, I use a battery tender.

Re: Small generator.
chargers on the generators will not put out enough amps to charge your battery between rounds
WE put both in the pace trailers we use the yamaha portable there charging systems don't put but about 5 amps the honda will put out more around 10 amps. The desiel gens will put out enough they have a alteraner on them but they cost some big $$$$.The honda is one of the best gens you can buy the yamaha we carry are built by onan and are a good gens and cost less than honda.
