Plug for Steel heads on spray

Post  Blind Mule on June 16th 2010, 10:58 am

A friend of mine wants to spray his 429. It has the big plugs (currently Autolite 45s). What would be a good plug for the jug? Would rather have an NGK but Autolite would be ok.
Thanks and cool site

Autolite 124's, Ive used them for years and sprayed a TON at them. Theyre cheap and readily available at your local autoparts store.

Are these fairly easy to read on spray? How much is a ton? Very Happy

You can get the small plug inserts and run anything your heart desires. IMO the big plugs seem to be getting harder and harder to find instock anywhere.

Theyre as easy to read as any other Autolite plug. NAPA and Carquest in my area have always had them in stock for 1.89 each I usually buy 3 sets at a time, but I buy them pretty regular so that may be why the places I usually get them always seem to have them in stock. Oh and BTW Ive sprayed 45's also(not quite as aggressive) and never had any issues, just remember they are a projected tip and have less room for error. A ton is 345 or so to me on a single plate, opinions may vary though.

The first mom and pop store I stopped at today had them. I guess I will get the guy to buy a couple sets just incase. Thanks.

JMO. But I've found the NGK's to be a little easier to read than the Autolite's. Others may find it the opposite, but like I said, just my opinion.
