HORSEPOWER CHART FOR 429/460 CID

Post  wayne rhodes on July 15th 2010, 6:41 pm

That was well said for beginners and pros a like. I'm neighter a biginner or a pro. How ever I do have a home built race car and a F100 short bed truck both 460's the drag car has a 550+ hp 460 the truck has a 425+ hp engine with stock gears and all. I am starting a 514 CID build with o deck clearence as it sits with only the 514 bottom end kit installed. saves money no decking thanks again for a well orginanized and well said combo for small to race HP@TQ WR

Yes and more if you want change pistons or change piston height.the pistons now days are set up to allow for no decking at all but I still like a 0 deck block. avoid seal power and any other piston that places the deck and top down in the bore as much .035 you'll loose all your squelch that was designed in the kidney shape around the valves and the combustion flame wildfire all over the place instead of being combined in the squelch area. thats what think

it will also keep you pistons cooler and the compact chamber will re homogenize the air and fuel again and you can run less timing on your advance because the flame front will be faster through the engine

Wayne I am not going to get into a Pi$$in match with you but can I suggest that you go buy a book on engine terms and what they mean and learn....cuz your babbling makes absolutely no sense at all.... my 7 year old babbles and makes more sense than you are.....

I also suggest if you do know Paul Kane and Scotty J.... have one of them build your engines cuz they really do know what they are doing......

and if you cut your deck height down from 10.32 to 9.8 you will have one bastard off setup, and intake will have to be custom made....

Have a nice day
Randy
