So what will I gain Empty So what will I gain

Ok so my current build is as follows:

466 with PI heads with larger valves
stealth intake
10.5:1 compression
hydro flat cam 600 lift

So i am thinking of changing to a scj or tfs or edel head.....I almost have all the cash for new heads....but what i want to know is what kinds of power gains will i see with each of those heads...is it worth it if dont change cams to a roller cam...or a solid flat cam....is it worth dropping 2k for this increase...I want a nice bang for the buck......is it worth changing intakes to a victor or stealth domi specific intake..(i have a domi sitting in the garage ready to bolt onto the steatlh 4150 intake with an adapter plate...

sorry for the rambling questions, but i dont wanna drop 2 to 2500 bucks on a small improvement ....

car is a strip/limited street time 2002 mustang gutted stock suspension drag radial car .....oh i wanna do a bolt on deal, no machine work type deal, heads will be out of the box with no port work right now

The head deal is an investment................you might shout at the Coug, he has a set of Charlie Evans ported TFS streets and a matched victor intake I think...............as far as improvemnet its hard to say.....it wont slow down thats for sure and will give you room to grow....plus lose 80#s.

IMO.the Roller will be a big improvement. I will NEVER build a engine over 600hp again w/anything but a roller setup. But thats just me,everyone might not feel that way.

My pick would be cam if your PI heads are up to snuff.

Do the heads, It will give you more bang for the $$$ than a roller cam, Ford Racing SCJs are pretty cheap right now.

Your heads to FRPP Super Cobra Jet heads with back-cut intake valves and the correct intake notches in YOUR pistons is probably about 70 horsepower with NO other changes; (well, the additional cost of pushrods too, because they are a different length).

Only you can decide if it would be worth it or not...!

So i notice on the scj's that they are 72cc combustion chambers.....they pi heads i have are 88....and I have about 10.5 to 1 compression, the scj will give me 12.17 ish compression....will that be ok with pump gas?? Are teh scj's the best way to go? or can i get a thicker gasket (using .042 now) to drive it down a little

But that will kill your quench area which will in turn cause problems with pump gas.

Your question never said ANYTHING about a requirement to use "pump swill" as you claimed it to be a "mostly STRIP" car..
In that case you have ONLY the Edelbrock 95cc combustion chamber heads to fit your needs.

or Blue Thunder has a big chamber head.

IMO if it primarily a strip car.... Get the compression up and let it eat race gas.
