Good Deal?

I have a buddy that wants to trade me a .040 460 with forged trw pistons, stock rods, dove heads, roller rockers, solid flat tappet cam, msd dizzy with hooker headers, canton oil pan and a 3500 converter with a fresh c6 with valve body. All of the bigblock stuff is fresh and motor has never been fired. He wants to trade me that for my brand new stock block 347 with roush 200 heads tfs2 and a airgap intake with a tremec 3550 tranny. I have a 460 in my 85 and love it. Does this sound like a good deal?

IMO, it's purely a matter of the value YOU attach to each. How much love do you feel for the 347 combo? If it were me (but it's not) I'd grab the BBF deal.

And change the rods.... Just sayin'

i hear alot of negative talk about stock rods are they that bad. i've been spinning mind to 6500 alot for ten years no trouble yet.

no not bad just not great for performance engine.. it's a crap shoot go for it, if you feel like gambling then take the gamble.....personally if you are going to spend $150 to work them over why not put another $100 or so with it and have insurance.....

If my machinist did them both, I would say it could be good. If my machinist did my 347 and somebody I didn't know did the 460, well, you know where I'm going..........

Back in the day its what you had but there is no excuss to use stocks rods nowadays as plentiful as the H beams are.

Depending on the parts in the 347 I'm not so sure its a real good trade IMO.

Probe rotating assembly, I beam rods still a roller block. Both motors are fresh. The reason for trading is I want a bbf I can drive on the street and haul my kids around with me. This seems cheaper than to build one.

If its what you want then its a deal........... if your not comfortable with the deal pass !!

The Stock rods are fine in a 460 for a driver, just don't rev the hell out of it. If you trust your friend then thier is no issues right?
