whats a good , reliable gun for home safety ?

Home safety means quick, knock down and not having to aim. That my friend equals a shot gun..

Forget the hand cannons, and get a good shotgun with OO buck. NOTHING says get out of here like the sound of of a shotgun getting shucked. You can find Remington 870's pretty cheap.

I have one of those as well, with 3" magnums, 00 buck and slugs

An inexpensive 12 GA. with a shortened barrel. Forget about the "00" loads unless your intention is to destroy your home! Too much recoil. Keep it simple, moderate load shells, short as possible so you can maneuver within the home without banging the barrel(s) on the furniture and keepsakes. I would prefer a "pump action" as well and option for a few extra rounds. The thing about any gun much less a shotgun being fired inside a home, if you don't injure the assailant you sure won't have any trouble tracking them ...... from their shit trail!

honestly i would rather not have one with the kids , but it would be good to teach everyone about gun safety , .....but i really felt i need one when i was at the pond the other night fishing with rooster liver blood all over my hands and i could hear the coyotes coming ..... i felt it was time to leave ....... not much i could do with a fishing pole

the 12ga can be used well outside the home too,neighbors and their pets,deer in the garden,etc.......and thieves for sure!

Bruno if you just want one to take to the pond get you a Taurus Tracker 22 Mag with a 6 or 7 inch barrel and learn how to shoot it, it will take out a coyote fast and still smallish enough to work home defense..... oh and shoot CCI 22 Maxi Mag TNT hollow points. Makes small hole going in Football sized hole coming out.....
Also if some comes with bullet proof vest N/P will go thru like butter

Lee last time I bought ammo for mine it was $10 bucks a box...
