Re: Viktor air gap intake
Believe it or not, the simple plan I outlined for you, will make that Bronco shit and git. You will be surprised. And the simple plan I outlined is a prerequisite to further engine mods. So try it first and see what you think. From there you can go further.
Your engine as it came from the factory has less than 8 to 1 compression, so it will not support much more in the camshaft department. You can up the compression with a piston, and/or piston and head change to support the cam with more lift and duration. The factory cam will actually do quite well with the stock compression.
Be careful of who you go to for help, as the 460 Ford is a different animal from what the Chevy boys know and understand. You came to the right site, so listen to what the Ford boys have to say.

Re: Viktor air gap intake
This guy is a Ford only nut worked at the dealership in town for years now has his own shop and has done more than one 460. For hands on help he's definitely the best help I can get around here. I'm going to keep this thread going so I can talk to you guys step by step. Putting together a couple thousand dollars to get started.
Re: Viktor air gap intake
How did this thread go from a simple intake manifold swap to a complete engine rebuild with some $2,000.00 to be spent...?
Sounds like "wishful thinking" or you were not being totally forthcoming with us from the beginning.

Re: Viktor air gap intake
Well when I bought the intake I thought it would be a simple swap and I guess it was the inspiration I needed because it's always been in the back of my mind to build this motor to be the baddest motor in my group of friends and since I can't return the intake and none around here will buy it I'm the only one I know with a 460 so I'm going to spend five hundred for a simple intake and this one looks so good I don't want to give it up I'll sink a few thousand in to it.
Re: Viktor air gap intake
Which intake do you have?
1) Victor 460 (Single Plane) or
2) RPM Air-Gap (Dual Plane)

Re: Viktor air gap intake
Ifand will load some pics so people knowmeone has some suggestions on some specific parts I should be looking at and money is an object. I've seen camshafts for two hundredish timing gear and chain for under a hundred pistons for eight hundred can afford that now it's the heads that I don't know what to look for specific requirements to go with the Viktor manifold? Or if I can make it work with stock heads. And if it does work with stock heads how much hp would I be sacrificing. If those prices are realistic and I can definitely decided what route I will attack this. Getting ready to pull the motor now. Excited
Re: Viktor air gap intake
Will load pics just have to figure out how. I've tried will have to get someone to help me out I'm not very computer friendly. The everyone can see that it's happening I'm not just blowing smoke

Bart Knox wrote:I've been looking for hours about using this intake with a stock motor and can't find anything that says you can't. I don't care if I don't gain any horse power or loose a little on bottom end or if I have to upgrade pistons and camshaft maybe heads but I would like to put it on now if it's still going to be drive able if I have to upgrade some stuff now would be the time to do it with winter coming just need it going again for may long weekend
Bart Knox wrote:I went to talk to an engine builder last night and he said he would help me out. Told me to get stright up timing gear and chain and camshaft. Then if I can afford it after I get those peaces flat top pistons and heads. So I'm trying to put some prices together and I'm going to go back over and see what he ses make sure all the parts work together. So I'll put 3 or 4 grand into the motor a cheap build and that should be good for my first motor

So which is it going to be 2k or 4k is it going to be the bad a$$ of your group or you just want it running???

I'm reading the posts about can you physically install a Victor intake on a stock engine to run around off road. Why in hell would you want to do that?
Desmog your stock engine.
Recurve your distributor.
Install straight up timing gears and a double roller timing chain.
Install 1/34" primary tube headers, 2 1/2" exhaust, "H" pipe, and mufflers that you can look thru.
Then go rip-snorting around the boonies and have a ball. Save the Victor for a dedicated engine build or sell it.
^^^^^ DanE is putting you down the right path for the money your looking to spend and still have some to save for the next big build

Re: Viktor air gap intake
I know you guys know best so I might just do that or I might throw my 351w in for the summer and start buying parts for a big build thanks
Re: Viktor air gap intake
Going to try to save money by dropping motor instead of hi angle drivshafts. Is there a oil pan that works with the twin I beam front axle or just a rear sump oil pan? That will give me a couple thousand saved right there if I can make that work
Re: Viktor air gap intake
Bought a set of 71 dove-c heads fully rebuild with upgraded springs and a nice set of valve covers so far wouldn't mind some suggestions on came and pistons. Was told for what I'm doing it get a after market rv cam to get some tork back. I know I'm not going the route that was suggested but could still use some help
Re: Viktor air gap intake
Get with Randy or Lem and have them to make you a custom cam it won't cost you but about $30 to $40 more than a off the shelf cam.

Bart Knox wrote:I searched randy and think I found the Web site left a message thanks
I have a few phone messages which I need to return, (I do not return international phone calls), and let me add that when anyone calls a workplace on Sunday evening, they are most likely NOT going to get any answer at that time.
There was no need to search very far as the website address is right at the bottom of this page.
Almost ANYWHERE in Canada the shipping charge from the USA will include duty and brokerage charges; not simply the cost of merely shipping.
The last camshaft I mailed to Alberta was almost $100.00 just to get it delivered.
Re: Viktor air gap intake
I didn't expect to get a answer there last night. I just tried calling again. If you don't call international I try again later. Not sure as far as business hours with the time difference between here and there it's 1:41 here. Thanks for the help. Could still use some help with choosing pistons.

The PROBE part number for the correct 30 over forged replacement piston set using D0VE heads with standard rods are: P2404F-030
Re: Viktor air gap intake
I like the price $491.00 thanks I'm going to wait for the heads to show up make sure there good to go and go from there. I'll get these pistons the straight up timing and figure out the camshaft should be good for a bit thanks everyone:D
Re: Viktor air gap intake
The guy I got the valve covers from just sold me a high volume oil pump, double roller timing chain and gear and a set of 3/8 push rods. Think I'll go with the comp xtreme 4x4 cam and lifter kit CL34-239-4 from summit racing
