TFS PRE-Production, aka Mafia manifold
For the racers and engine builders receiving the PRE-Production Mafia manifold, here is some info.
1. Be advised that one of the throttle bracket bolt holes breaks through into intake runner # 8. You will need to install a 5/16" set screw with red Loc-Tite, or have a vacuum leak. TFS has already been told and they will take care of it before the production run.
2. The manifold is "Cast as Ported" and should not need anything other than removal of casting flash and cuckleburrs with a tootsie roll.
3. They worked hard to make this manifold lighter. The TFS 4150 square bore carb manifold weighs a nominal 30 pounds and this manifold weighs 19 pounds, so that's 11 pounds lighter.
4. They have maintained a minimum wall thickness of .190".
5. Port matching will probably be required. Get your SCE CJ style intake gaskets from Lem and lay them on the heads. I use a couple of Sharpie's to stuff through the bolt holes and locate the gasket. You will notice that on runners #1 they are raised up in the 10:00 to 11:00 area and the gasket may need trimming. On runners #2 , they are raised up at the 12:00 area and again the gasket may need trimming.
Next transfer the gasket to your heads, line up the bolt holes and see if you need to raise the roof of your intake ports. Most all TFS Street heads will need the roof raised, along with any of the DOVE-C cast iron small ports and etc.
6. TFS mentioned that were going to make new intake gaskets, however I don't think they're available yet. Meanwhile a CJ intake gasket will do fine.
7. IMO, I would not lower the floor of the intake runners to the CJ gasket level, nor would I widen the walls of the runners to the CJ width. If you have studied an Edelbrock head with the CNC CJ port entry, you'll notice that while the port is wide at the gasket, it comes right back to the inside as it goes around the push-rod. No need to blow it out, just to come back and pinch it inward again. Work on matching the roof of the runner to the port.
8. Due to different block deck heights, and the amount your heads have been milled, be prepared to maybe mill some off the sides of the intake manifolds in order to acheive better port alignment.
9. The effort was made for the outer 4 runners to be bigger in cross sectional area, than the inner 4 runners. The result is a more balanced flow, and you should be able to treat/tune the engine as a V-8 engine, rather than a two V-4 engines. The runners have the correct amount of taper.
10. Give feedback as soon as possible,,,i.e. et slips or dyno sheets and call Lem or me. My number is (270)685-4654.
Thanks,
Charlie

Charlie,
Whats the Cost and how long will it take to get one?

Dave,
I don't know, ask Lem. He's in charge of that department.

Re: TFS PRE-Production, aka Mafia manifold
At the chicken fry last Sat night Lem mentioned that TFS was setting the retail around $430ish...
I don't think I was drinking too much by then. But I've been known to be wrong before...
Charlie, This should match up to a P-51 head fairly well, right? Both intake and heads would be out of the box...

Re: TFS PRE-Production, aka Mafia manifold
I was visiting with Charlie about this manifold the other day, and he mentioned that it may be necessary to try a few different spacers to find the best results also. Either the Jomar or Super Sucker, it will depend on application. Charlie is to be commended on his part in helping us to get this fine manifold. Most of us know that he had a huge part in making this manifold possible. So thanks again Uncle Charlie.

If someone wants a manifold, send Lem an E-mail. Do not call or PM, the E-mail is how it will be done, and you will be on the list for the new manifold. Heck yes Jon, some info on how much better it is would be fabulous. I don't remember exactly what the numbers were on Kay Why's engine with the switch, but it was noticable. It's good to finally have another option for an intake manifold.

From to looks of it the injector bosses are at the wrong angle, would work for efi but the mech injection and nos guys gonna have to grind some..............even efi they look too small in diameter.
One must have a decoder ring or something to get one..............

What are the dimensions ( Height) of this manifold in comparison to the Edelbrock Victor 4500?
I believe the Edelbrock is 6.3"

Don't have one here to measure.......can tell you the tfs unit is taller.
