2 speed junk
Hey guys I was wondering if anyone has heard of API transmissions outta Canada , I wanna get rid of my coan 2 speed and go with a 3 speed my car still don't 60 foot I've messed with 4 link angle , shock adjustments , and tire psi, I've even tried leaving lower on the two step and let the converter flash , on the trans brake or foot brake it doesn't matter. It weighs 3500# and 1.48 is the best 60 foot it'll do

Others will reply but I think you need some converter help. No reason that 2 speed won't 60............ It aint the tranny.

Just fix your converter issues. Give Lane at PTC or Lenny at ultimate a call.

2 speed
Hey Jason,
Before you toss your 2 speed stuff, take another look at the converter and starting line rpm.
My "very much full sized" Ford tips the scales at 3625 or 3735, depending on the class and track.
I use a BTE 10" Top Sportsman steel stator - spragless converter behind both the the 605 and the 514 engines with aftermarket 'Glides with 1.80 low gear. The 605 has been a best of 1.27 with a 4.56 gear ( at BBF Bash) and normally runs low 1.30s with the 4.29 cog and 15X33" tires on the car now. Depending on class, I leave between 4300 and 4900 rpm. The 514, as I recall, is in the mid to high 1.30s.
You may want to reconsider before making the 3-speed swap. Your engine makes enough torque to pull a 2-speed with ease. I have noticed that my car is much more manageable with the 2-speed.
Since going from 3-speed to 2 speed, I have had a lot more success (rounds) with basically the same car and (questionable) driver.
If you call Ray Huffman at BTE, he can give you intimate detail of my converters.
Thanks,
Keith

If the converter is wrong the leave rpm is not gonna matter much.........I've had mine from 3000-5500 and it 60's damn near the same.............but the converter ain't junk either.

Re: 2 speed junk
I use to leave at 4400 yes on the 2 step and brake , I lowered it cause I thought I was on the converter to high , so I figured it would flash and hit alittle harder . The trans is a 1.76.

Needs Converter help. Most converter companies will take your converter and do their thing with it. I'd give someone else a shot at figuring the converter package you need. Any of the guys mentioned above are familiar with the BBF torque and HP capabilities. It aint no Chevrolet shelf deal for sure, these things make unbelievable power.
Good luck,
Travis
